Massachusetts Bombe Desk
(83-842)
Circa 1790, this Bombé, or swelled, shaped desk is an outstanding example of this unique Massachusetts form. Crafted of Mahogany solids and veneers, it contains elaborately shaped drawers with partitions and hidden compartments. The solid brasses show detailed Chinese influence as do the superbly crafted ball-and-claw feet.
