Lolling Chair

(255)

The original of this reproduction lolling chair is on exhibit in the Lafayette bedchamber at Mount Vernon and is considered to be one of the more unusual forms of the period. The curved, barrel-shaped back is uncommon, yet comfortable, and the clean lines are typical of the Federal period. The chair is crafted of Mahogany solids with traditional, hand-sprung construction.
